Known as the "Civil War Room" Dressed and on the way to an historic event. This shot shows three walls of the room which is only about 12x12. Not a large room at all. From this angle it looks like a thrift shop, the room does not appear that cluttered when you are standing in it.

Just that tiny roof done up in red just helps to balance out the colors a bit more. The first roofing layer was green which then matched the white house at the time.

Window came out fantastic. The view into the yard has to be improved. 2 sections of the barns came down over the summer. It will take at least another summer or two to finish the yard, things were that gross out there.

Neighbor (awesome guy!) did the stairs and the rails with help. The rails match the original front porch and I had to wait months for the copies to come in. The wait was worth it. The mud room has not been roughed in yet. The lattice was for the dog's safety.

Because someone just slapped them up there without measuring back in c.1910! Relief's varied from 3" - 4.25". The new clapboards didn't match in the corner and created all kinds of hell.

The old pressure treated steps which graced the back of the house for decades is now gone. I had the spindels from the front porch duplicated so the back stairs mimicked the front of the house. The lattice is there for the dog. It will be replaced when we rough in the mud room. I have an antique stained glass window and a door to restore to replace the current back door. Our wonderful neighbor did most of the complicated work, with help from us. We will help him on a project at his place now that this is done.

2009 Backyard and Pool. Second year here and the backyard is still landscaped in "Construction Site" motif. Guests have taken to wearing hard hats instead of bathing caps to the pool.

Pool 18x32. Worth every penny. Backyard still being dug up in places to regrade lumps and bumps. Backhoe digging in the new water line for the garden which was enlarged to 100'x 35'. One day we will have grass.

There isn't tons of paint on it. I am guessing that the green is original. Wasn't this a popular color in the 30's??

I am guessing it is from the early to mid 20th century. But I am not sure.

Rock maple rocker, found along with the card table. Seat needs replacing. Found that it had been refinished, as the underside shows a dark stain.

Getting there. Took a bit over 900 bricks to complete. In the spirit of Old House Restoration we salvaged some bricks from a few demo sites and purchased the last 300 from a used brick yard.

Concrete barriers leaning. Fixing one meant fixing them all! While digging we found, a horse shoe, marbles, bones (nothing worthy of a crime scene), broken china, and a 1914 penny!

Back Door. Future brick patio. Laundry sink installed by PO. We put in the pipes to drain into the driveway, an improvement over the PO who just let the water pour out right next to the foundation.

This original sofa found with a \"free\" sign on it. I picked the same color fabric, as this is my fave color over the blues and greens of the era. The restoration cost $2300. Nuthin\' like gettin\' stuff fer free!

The bedroom en-suite. Have to cross thru to get to bath. This room also stole space from green bedroom for a large closet. This was the PO's master bedroom. Room 12x13.

The closet by the kitchen door. The only built in closet downstairs was removed years ago probably when the bathroom was added to the house.

Another kitchen corner. This room had been completely remodeled. Mini fridge was a nice touch. But for a Victorian house, the cabinets would have served me better if they were more the shade of the kitchen set.

Kitchen. Doors lead to laundry, which was the downstairs bath. This arrangement was nicer. Bath was moved near back door. Great situation for pool parties, no wet trails thru house!

The Drawingroom. PO textured the walls so wallpapering will require sanding first.. The curtains are hiding something, that\'s why they hang funny, I fixed it later.

Another $$$ item besides the bathroom. Relining the Chimney. Had them put a terra cotta chimney pot on the top. I got the only house with one in the neighborhood.

The right side is just boring. I added in even more color by 2007. This is just the starting point.

The PO remodeled the bath himself! In order to vent out the sewer gases, we had to gut the bathroom. Pretty venting pipe, eh?

It's fixed, but after a year since it happened we still don't have the walls in perfect order or anything. This winter we need to focus on this room.

It makes the Neighbors Nervous. Stones were plaster castings of real local markers. I also belonged to the Association for Gravestone Studies awhile back...Did I mention only two neighbors even talk to us?

My intention is to add stones every year, but the house so far has kept me from my goal. At my old house these filled the tiny yard...I need more dead bodies!

During rain storms this is the norm. Usually lasts only a day or so.

The Kitchen at Christmas 2006. Arch over stove came from circa 1836 building which was being gutted and remodeled. Glad it lives on in my house. The PO was a good carpenter, but a crappy plumber (see bathroom photos).

Need a deeper red table cloth. Kitchen is 16x16. Bigger than any I ever had. According to Victorian cottage publications of the time, this was a suitable sized kitchen!

The land raw and uncensored. We are at the back end of the propery looking up toward the house. The lower area where we are standing floods and swamps out Nov-April. That'll keep the developers off my land!

Nightshot just to see how the lights worked. I was used to icicle lights on the former house, but there was no way I was going to hang these on the peak of the house, and I didn't want to just light up the bottom and have it look unfinished. It is simple and sweet...er Victorian..that was what I was going for after all.

It had a kind of, ungroomed look like a little kid needing a haircut. But I was happy that the owners didn't pay attention to the outside, so we could make it our own! The back of the yard needs mega work and will take probably 3-4 years to become something attractive.

The Culver House built in 1880. But my son nicknamed it the WACKY SHACK. 1880's builder's plans show her as a "cottage". Presently, she's the daughter of a painted lady (using 4 colors)...I am adding 2 more colors....
